The alternative is removing the PCM, then the chip, then re-flashing the chip etc. As mentioned above, the tunes can be emailed to you (by most custom tuners) uploaded onto the SCT Programmer, then finally to your truck by way of the OBDII port and a few extra minutes to cycle the desired tune before operating the truck. You will need to remove the Hydra/6pos chip from the PCM to upload new tunes where as the programmer stores in a console or glovebox and is ready to be modified in real time.Ī major benefit for me applies to the work applications and large fluctuations in payload my truck experiences.
